2024 Stewardship Campaign

This year's stewardship theme reminds us that we are a mighty forest comprised of ancient trunks and sprightly saplings, each of us contributing our gifts to a world that needs us. Our campaign this year is as essential as ever in providing the sustaining and lifegiving support to St. John’s as we grow together in our faith and provide the right resources to support the growth within our community.

Please read through the stewardship mailing you received this past week and prayerfully consider your 2023 pledge to St. John's Church. St. John’s relies on support from individuals who declare their faithful commitment to our church through a pledge. Whoever you are and wherever you find yourself, you are welcome at St. John’s Church, and we are so glad you’re here.

About Stewardship

The Stewardship Ministry at St. John's helps parishioners discern how they give of their time, treasure, and talent in support St. John’s Church.

The Stewardship Ministry also ensures that the ministries of the church are sustained by adequate financial resources.

Dear Friends,

This has been a busy fall for St. John’s!  We’ve gathered for our homecoming celebration, hosted Revolution RVA’s Mozart festival, welcomed the bishop for the rites of Baptism and Confirmation, and served as Interfaith host of Richmond’s Inaugural Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration.  Amidst all this activity and ministry, the first words that come to mind are “thank you.”  Thank you for the many gifts that you share with our community.

You have heard the familiar expression “can’t see the forest for the trees” before.  We most often use it to describe that occasion in which we lose sight of the big picture while focusing on the details.  As part of St. John’s leadership, we often experience the blessing of being able to see the big picture of our congregation – the ministry that St. John’s brings to those who enter our church doors, the impact our church has on the Church Hill community, the ways that week after week we all come together to celebrate our faith, learn from each other, and praise our Creator.  This is the forest.

We also have the honor of wandering amongst those trees.  From the small shoot reaching out from its seed and finding the sunlight, to the mightiest tree, standing tall, showing strength, offering sheltering love to those who need it.  You are those trees, each drawing strength from our communion table and showering the world with the love and grace you have come to know here.  We are reminded of this web of life every time we walk past the gravestones and centuries-old trees on our beloved church grounds.

The theme of our annual pledge campaign, Rooted in Abundance, reminds us that we are a mighty forest comprised of ancient trunks and sprightly saplings, each of us contributing our gifts to a world that needs us.  Our campaign this year is as essential as ever in providing the sustaining and lifegiving support to St. John’s as we grow together in our faith and provide the right resources to support the growth within our community.

We can’t wait to tell you more about our plans in the coming weeks and ask that you prayerfully consider your pledge to St. John’s by Sunday, November 12.  As you hear the messages and stories of abundance this year, take note of how generosity spreads and widens our root structures of faith, hope, love, and service.

In gratitude,
