Who are the people of St. John’s Church Music Ministry? You’ve seen and heard some of them singing as part of the choir or cantoring a psalm. Some you’ve heard playing a flute, trombone, tuba, clarinet, organ, piano, or percussion instrument. But the music ministry is also you. Yes, you! Perhaps you once sang in the choir as a child or in college. Maybe you played in the concert, jazz, or pep band. Or it’s possible you once played (or still do play) professionally. This is an invitation to you. Come sing with us (or dust off that ukulele). If you have an interest in this, or want more information, please be in touch with Minister of Music Jim Bennett. During the summer months, the choir meets at 9am in the sanctuary to practice the service music and one simple anthem for that Sunday. The 10am summer service finishes at about 11:15am. The choir sings at the 11:00 a.m. service from September through May and at the 11:00 p.m. service Christmas Eve. Choir practice is at 7:00 p.m. Thursdays in the Parish House, 2319 E. Broad St. All are welcome and encouraged to join the choir. The Adam Stein organ was built in 1905 and restored in 1983.
