Voting Is Important to Living Our Faith

As people of faith, we are called to build a more just society. Voting is one way we make our voices heard on important issues.

On November 5, we will elect national officials, from representatives in Congress to President of the United States, as well as representatives in local government.

Let's plan to get to the polls to vote our values, either for early voting at your local registrar now through November 2, or on election day.

If you need more details about where to vote and who's on your ballot, check out elections.virginia.gov.

Pilgrimage to the Presidency

As we approach the US presidential election, with politics dominating the news and many people’s thoughts, the Society of St. John the Evangelist (SSJE) invites you to join them as they explore how Christians have grappled with the political world and what that means for us in a 21st century democracy as we look to do the same.

Join Br. Lucas Hall for weekly videos and conversations with guest speakers about theology, prayer, and discernment, along with livestreamed conversations with SSJE brothers and a livestreamed vigil through the night on Election Day.

SSJE seeks to answer the question, "How can we, the Church, engage in the realm of politics while maintaining our integrity, our love of God and neighbor, and our commitment to the common good?"

Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers
